Long recognized as a leader in substance abuse and mental health treatment for families involved in the Child Welfare System, SHIELDS For Families has also been dedicated to preparing new and emerging leaders for the challenges of working with marginalized inner-city groups. Often called upon to lend our expertise to new programs and initiatives, SHIELDS has established the Training and Research Division that will further meet the needs of our community, partners, and professionals who wish to strengthen their skills in working with culturally diverse populations.

The Division looks forward to meeting the needs of our constituents by providing an array of trainings and workshops facilitated by highly trained Master’s and Doctorate level professionals. Our courses will be in tune with current and emerging trends in the fields of substance abuse, mental health, social work, and child welfare. In addition, credentialed professionals and interns will have the opportunity to receive continuing education units towards state licensure requirements.
